Standings

The standings after the first two weeks have been posted. It's far too early to make anything of the numbers but it is a little interesting that the army, which is known for its dynamic offense, is tied for 7th in goals scored after two weeks. Here is a look at how the early season is shaping up.

Here is a link to the standings:

5.27.09 Post Game

The army was faced with a tough task playing the matinee 6:30 game last night. For the second straight week the team came out flat, finding themselves down 2-1 after the first. Unlike last week the army was unable to rally. Even with a spirited attack for most of the third period the army suffered its first loss of the season 4-3, bringing their record to 1-1 on the young season. I talked to some of the guys following the game to get their reactions to the seasons first loss. Click on the links below to listen to the audio.

The Army looks to continue their hot start tomorrow at 6:30. The team will be hanging out in the parking lot, sharing a few sodas with those who wanna hang around. Feel free to bring down some memorabilia you'd like your favorite army member to sign. As you can see the grill will be going into the wee hours of the night...

Red Army Preseason continued

The Red Army had another workout session, in Woburn this week. After a slow start, we seemed to find a quicker pace but it wasn't our best skate. It's beginning to show that the monotony of the preseason is wearing on us. Everyone on the team is geared up and anxious for the start of the regular season, May 20th.

Soviet Anthem

As you may have noticed, the Soviet Anthem is now available from youtube at the top of the page. I posted the English version. Let me know what you think.

As for the ARMY. We've been honing our skills over the past few weeks in Everett and Woburn. I must say that unless other teams in the Burlington league have a pre-season schedule like ours, then we must be the team to beat. Our forwards are having no problems finding the back of the net and our defense, which is backboned goaltender Josh Wallace, is having very few problems keeping the GAA down. Every week seems like another year this team has been playing together and we can't wait for May 20th and the season opener. Once again, we need as many fans as possible this year. Just comment on the blog and I'll post directions if necessary to the Burlington Ice Palace. Only a few more weeks!

Red Army spring training, night 2

The second night is upon us. Tonight is the second night of practice for the upcoming 2009 red army hockey season. Although the full squad won't be in attendance again it will be good for some of us to shake the rust off from a long, and hazy/drunk winter. Somerville 8 o'clock....
